Notes from boards that left the classroom

Mixed voices from Service Health Dashboards and shorter intensives — including where the fit was imperfect.

Farah’s critique of our saturation row in Service Health Dashboards removed three redundant gauges. Night shifts now glance once instead of hunting. We still struggle to keep the dependency map updated when services multiply mid-quarter — that part is on us.

Stakeholder Health Briefings gave me a one-page template finance actually reads. Used it the week after the workshop.

I joined Metric Selection Intensive from Penang. The session that ranked leading vs lagging indicators cut our weekly “status deck” from nineteen charts to seven. Wish the homework had more manufacturing examples — most samples leaned cloud SaaS.

Anonymous client in banking operations: the Lattice View cohort forced our NOC and analytics teams into one vocabulary. Escalations dropped in volume; average handle time for unclear alerts fell from roughly 18 minutes to just under 11 in the following month. Correlation overlays took longer to trust than the syllabus implied.

Short and useful: the handoff kit from Module 5 meant I could go on leave without the board rotting. That alone paid for the seat.

Case notes

Regional logistics control tower

A Malaysia-based logistics platform had twelve Grafana folders and no shared definition of “route health.” Through Service Health Dashboards they collapsed to a two-tier model: lane availability and exception aging. Change overlays revealed a nightly customs batch coinciding with false latency alarms. Outcome after six weeks in production: exception meetings shortened by about 25 minutes on average. Limitation: warehouse IoT feeds remained out of scope, so the board still goes blind when those sensors fail.

Shared services desk, education sector

An education shared-services team used Stakeholder Health Briefings to replace a spreadsheet screenshot ritual. They adopted a severity narrative tied to ticket age and authentication error rate. Faculty liaisons reported clearer expectations during exam weeks. The team notes that without investing in better identity telemetry, visualization only made the gaps more obvious — which was uncomfortable but productive.
